Introduction:

Akadama is a well-known bonsai soil used by most of bonsai enthusiasts worldwide. The name Akadama means "red soil". Akadama is a superior media for Bonsai, Adenium and Orchids that has been tested over the centuries in Japan. It is very porous and free draining yet retains moisture. This is small granule size Double Red Line Akadama Akadama soil is mined in Japan from volcanic soil (island of Honshu, Mountain Akayi - near Tokyo). Once extracted its dried and sifted to various grain sizes. Akadama may also act as one component of growing medium when combined with other elements such as sand, composted bark, peat, or crushed lava. Akadama’s colour darkens when moist which can help the grower determine when to water a tree.

 

Usage:

  • For plant topping paving stone
  • As soil mixed medium

  • Provides a good stability of your succulents, Bonsai trees, Adenium or Orchid plants
  • Very good air permeability
  • Nearly no tendency to soil compaction
  • Excellent drainage properties (very good against root rot)
  • High ability to hold nutrients in the soil
  • Good buffering capacity against pH fluctuations

 

Mini Notes:

Kanuma soil and Akadama are perfect suitable for the root growth of Lithops and Hawortia, and topping dressing for Lithops and Hawortia since Kanuma soil and Akadama are more softer than the other stone.

  • We dispatch plant orders on each Monday and Tuesday of the week to minimize the time that they might get stranded in the courier depot over the weekend. Non-plant orders are shipped through weekdays.

    North Island: 1-3 business days

    South Island: 2-5 business days

    Rural: 1-2 business days extra.

    Note: All packages are sent out as signature required. If you are not likely to be home upon delivery, please advise a safe and plant friendly place for the courier to drop your parcel. Unproper dropping spots may cause damage to plants or even packages get stolen. LeafTalk is not liable for damage incurred to plants or stolen parcels after they’re delivered, but we will fully refund you if your parcel was lost in transit before arrival.

  • Our mission is to give you the delightful experience of discovering plants and deliver the desired plants to your hands safe and sound. However, things can still happen even under our comprehensively careful handling.

    For plants

    We carefully pack your plants with special wraps and supporting frames in a specially designed box. In the very rare case if severe damage incurred to your plants in transit, please send us photo proofs within 3 days of receipt. We will refund you in full and may ask you to return the plants in its original carton if the evidence clearly indicates a shipping damage.

    Apart from the shipping damage, LeafTalk does not accept any plant returns or exchanges due to the sensitive nature of live plants.

    For other items

    We accept returns within 7 days of delivery on unused items in their original parcels and packing materials. To return your items, you must contact us first, we will send you further instructions including returning address. You will be responsible for shipping costs for the returning products. Please also be aware that sale and clearance items are not eligible for a return. Exchange only applies to defective or damaged items within 24 hours of receiving, so please contact us as soon as possible to report. If you are returning items over $80, please be sure to ship them with tracking number or add shipping insurance.
