Osmanthus fragrans var. semperflorens is a variety of osmanthus known for its orange-yellow flowers and rich fragrance, typically blooming in autumn (September to October). It thrives in full sunlight but can also adapt to partially shaded environments. It grows best in loose, fertile, well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Compared to other varieties of osmanthus, it is less cold-tolerant and is better suited for warm and humid subtropical regions.
Advantages of Grafting Osmanthus:
-Improved Disease Resistance: Grafting onto disease-resistant rootstocks enhances the plant’s ability to resist pests and diseases.
-Faster Growth and Flowering: Grafting helps Osmanthus reach its flowering stage quicker, especially when grafted onto fast-growing, adaptable rootstocks.
-Better Flower Quality and Fragrance: Grafting high-quality varieties can improve the flower's appearance and scent.
-Increased Adaptability: Grafted plants are better suited to different soil and climate conditions, enhancing their growth in diverse environments.
-Stronger Root System: Using robust rootstocks improves water and nutrient absorption, promoting healthier growth.
-Time and Resource Efficiency: Grafting saves time and resources, especially for varieties that are hard to propagate from seeds.
